Since its creation in 1971, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has provided medical assistance to people whose lives or health are threatened, regardless of their background and with complete independence. Operating in more than 70 countries, the organisation works in contexts including armed conflicts, epidemics, natural disasters and forced displacement. Its teams, made up of healthcare professionals, logisticians and humanitarian specialists, provide essential medical care where access to healthcare is limited or non-existent. This includes treating war-wounded patients, tackling malnutrition, responding to epidemics, providing care for mothers and children, and offering mental health support. Beyond emergency response, Médecins Sans Frontières also runs longer-term programmes to ensure sustainable access to healthcare for the most vulnerable populations.
